What Makes Us Different
P3 Distributing began in 2016 selling plastic packaging to dispensaries in Oregon. Quickly our owner noticed the massive amount of plastic being generated and in 2017 China implemented Operation National Sword and local municipalities stopped taking plastic waste. Because of this our journey began on our mission to turn waste into valuable goods.
Since new sorting standards have been put in place many municipalities have once again started accepting plastic waste. However large scale sorting facilities have a hard time with the small size of cannabis packaging and as such still do not accept the bottles we commonly use.
It is because of this that we began sorting, delabeling, and processing plastic bottles in house. Since we began we’ve grown our recycling department and we’re ready to take on more waste.
We offer our recycling program to all of Oregon through our expansive network of DropBox’s in member dispensaries.
Beyond Recycling: Reused Packaging
Processing #5 plastic is our forte’. We’ve taken in more than 100,000 pounds of plastic since we started keeping track back in 2018. However we’ve taken it a step further and developed a line of reused glass and plastic packaging for the industry.
Our proprietary glass jars are marked with our symbol, showing the community that they are reusable. Processors purchase our top quality jars for less than the other guys, and gain recognition that their packaging is sustainable.
We collect our jars in the same boxes as our plastics and sort them locally in Milwaukie. The jars are soaked and cleaned thoroughly ensuring no residual material is left. Cleaned jars are then put through a commercial dishwashing system, sanitizing them and making them safe for their next life.
